Fightback is a social enterprise that reduces the risk of sexual, gender based violence in Nepal. We offer innovative training for girls and women in schools and workplaces plus workshops for parents, teachers and boys to shift gender-based norms and strive for a more equitable, safe society. Due to the pandemic, we have innovated to adapt the delivery of our training through the use of technology . Our plan is to have three modes of delivery to continue to reach women and girls at this critical time despite the Covid 19 restrictions: 1) Facilitator led online classes - (outreach 1500+ since April 2020) 2) Educational content sharing in social media ( 142k followers on Tik-Tok, 1.6 million likes 3) App and web based educational system- under development

Problem

1) A 2006 UNICEF study found that nearly 18% of 4,000 girl students in Nepal interviewed had experienced severe sexual abuse. 2) A research conducted by HimRights in 2013, studying 2,000 girls in seven districts in Nepal (13 - 18 years old), found that 1 in 10 girls had experienced sexual violence. Schools were the most common places for assault with 1 in 3 girls attacked in school. 3) UN Women describes the violence against women and girls during the pandemic as a “Shadow Pandemic”.
